Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share your own in the comments or even join in with the link up if you are a blogger. (You can find the details at the bottom of this post.) It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad. It will be nice to look back on these posts in the future too!
This week I have chosen the word Family
There is no other word suitable this week. For the first time in months (we all know the drill by now) I am with my family and oh my goodness it has been a good week. For reassurance, we are all being sensible and following the rules. If you’ve read any of my previous posts I know you already understand how important that is to me.
On Sunday morning, after a Saturday spent celebrating a family birthday in the garden in Liverpool, we jumped in the car and drove to Glasgow. Snack were a plenty of course. Drinking was kept to a minimum to avoid any need for stops. Pregnancy bladder is no joke! We made it there in one stretch, just in time for lunch in the garden and a big long catch up.
The last time I saw my brother and his partner was at the beginning of February and not long after for my parents. Being in the same house together again was amazing, as was the look on their faces when they saw my bump in person for the first time! I swear I am going to represent a beach ball by the time I reach nine months.
We’ve spent the week doing a whole lot of nothing. Lots of eating. Lots of reading in the sunshine. Plenty of catching up. Some making plans for the future, including where we might venture on holiday later next year or the following spring when baby is here and the world feels safe again. We fancy Italy, New York and Japan…all three might be a bit ambitious but when it has been so long since your last holiday it’s nice to dream about these things isn’t it?
With a few days left still to enjoy together, an Indian takeaway is planned for tonight and Mike and I brought a number of board games for us to play this weekend. The next time we have a week long break in the same house as a family, the baby will most definitely be here and life will be a whole lot different. I’m so grateful that we’ve had this opportunity to do so little and just enjoy the quiet together.
