Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share your own in the comments or even join in with the link up if you are a blogger. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad. This week I am so excited to say that the word is very, very good!
This week I have chosen the word Pregnant
It brings me so much joy to return to posting my Word of the Week with such an important piece of news. I’m pregnant! Twelve weeks to be exact and finally able to tell the world. Those of you who are mums will know how difficult it is to keep quiet around your friends and family in the early weeks. I’m also the world’s worst secret keeper, so it’s a relief to have reached the end of my first trimester. It’s fair to say that my face has resembled the Cheshire Cat from the moment I had my scan.
Of course I found out a while ago now. Getting that positive test was mind boggling. I turned to my husband and asked; “it’s positive…what does that mean?!”. Of course he replied; “Emma, it means we’re having a baby”. It still feels mad to think about. Coming to terms with the fact that I’ll be responsible for another person besides myself is huge, but I’m so unbelievably excited.
After several years of saying “oh I’m not quite ready for a family yet” something just clicked for me in January. Mike and I got married last year and had a wonderful time travelling across Europe and even to the USA in 2019. We’re both happy with work and we’ve really settled into our home now too. There is never a perfect time to do anything in life, but something just felt right.
Life is about to change dramatically for me, but I think I’m ready for it. After a couple of months of questions and worries (and nausea) I’m really beginning to settle into pregnancy and just enjoy the process. If you have any words of wisdom that you’d like to share, I would love to hear them in the comments!
