Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!
This week I have chosen the word Friends
My word of the week this week has to be friends! Two of my closest friends are coming to stay this weekend with their other halves and we’ve spent the week texting back and forward making lots of plans. Some involve exploring the city and being very sociable, some involve comfy clothes and takeaways. Life is all about balance after all, right?
When I moved from Glasgow to Liverpool almost three years ago I didn’t have too many fears, but I did worry about the lack of time I would have with friends and family. Some relationships have dwindled, however I am grateful to say that those nearest and dearest to me have only become closer.
We make that extra effort to find time together now and when we do manage to find it we always have a good time. Sometimes that means a quick coffee and a military style run down of what’s being going on because our schedules are busy. Roughly once a year we’re lucky enough to find an entire weekend in the diary!
As they have visited the city a couple of times before there won’t be too much exploring to do. We’ve got a brewery visit planned as well as some crazy golf and lots of food stops in between. Liverpool is brilliant for its beer and its food so we’ve always got a long list of new places to try.
Most of all though, I’m looking forward to sitting down with a cuppa when they arrive and putting the world to rights. Texting and phone calls are great and all, but nothing quite beats a natter on the sofa does it?
Speaking of which, friends is also a very fitting word as I’ve been watching the TV show pretty much none stop this week. Working from home, I like to have something on in the background and Friends is perfect for that. There’s been even more hype over it this week too as the cast have all been jumping on to Instagram. Jennifer Aniston even managed to crash the platform the other day! Sadly Netflix are removing the show in January so I want to make the most of it while I still can!
