Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!
This week I have chosen the word Countryside
This week I have been enjoying some blissfully quiet time in the countryside. It was my Mother in Law’s birthday two weeks ago and it was a big one, so we decided we should do something special as a family to celebrate. With the kids being on half term this week it was perfect timing!
After a bit of searching the internet for some options we came across a lovely cottage in the Yorkshire Dales big enough for all ten of us plus some. We weren’t looking for anything fancy, just a place to kip and make some meals. Well we came up trumps. The house was so affordable, yet it is huuuuuuge. The kitchen table alone could sit 12 people. When you’re used to trying to cram a big family around a tiny dining room table this is luxury.
We are surrounded by beautiful views which immediately calm your brain and make it impossible to be stressed or worried and the surrounding village is perfect for going quick walks with the kids and doing some animal spotting. To top it all off we have an open fire in the living room, so I’m in my element.
Every aspect of the countryside just makes me happy. The views, the fresh air, the long walks, the cosy pubs, the friendly locals. The list goes on. I’m not sure that it is somewhere I could live permanently as it is so remote and you have to travel so far to get to anywhere. Emergency trips to the shops for chocolate aren’t really an option here and that could become a problem for me, haha! I do love it so much though and I can guarantee we will be coming back for another visit very very soon.
So there it is, my word of the week and a summary of the past seven days.
