Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!
This week I have chosen the word Cloud
Starting with the weather (we are in the UK after all) it has been really cloudy and wet outside for a couple of days now and it’s making the whole house dark and grey. Normally I like the rain and the cloud but it has been quite gloomy. We had the longest summer and now all of a sudden it feels like winter is round the corner.
The cloud has been reflected in my mood too. Do you ever have those weeks where you just feel like you have a cloud over you and the whole time your head is filled with a fog? You still get on with everything and go about your day as usual but you do things a bit slower and time seems to pass without you noticing too much of what’s going on.
It’s a bit strange to describe, but I feel like I’ve just looked up from my laptop to find that the week has gone and I’m not quite sure how I spent it. I know I did the work I needed too, although maybe not as soon as I’d hoped. The house is tidy and mostly *cough* clean and my washing is done. We’ve eaten nice meals (thanks to my better half) and we’ve even celebrated a family birthday. But still time seems to have vanished.
Knowing that I’ve still been productive does help, but I hate missing out on the moment. There has been a lot of focus in recent years about the importance of being present and I think that’s something I need to practice more of. Do any of you have techniques that you practice to make sure you do this?
