Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!
This week I have chosen the word steps
No, not the band…I’m really sorry if you now have tragedy stuck in your head!
From the physical steps I have been taking daily to the one-step-at-a-time progress I’ve been making with my blogs, this word is very apt this week. If you read my #weighinwednesday post here, you will know that I have been working on some fitness goals. As part of my weight loss journey I am trying to be more active. I’m not a fan of going to the gym, or any other options that require paying for a membership really. Instead I am trying to do more at home each day.
I’ve spoken before about the fact that I freelance from home. As a result I don’t move very much at all, as my commute requires me to get out of bed and down around 14 stairs to the sofa/chair/table/desk. Other than getting up to make lunch or go to the loo, I don’t need to go anywhere for work. Great…until you consider my health. As a result, whilst for many people it would be very easy to do, my first goal has been to walk 2000 steps a day. Monday and Tuesday were acceptable and I came in just over and then just under my goal. On Wednesday however, I went to the zoo with the family and we did 10,000 steps, so I can call that an achievement I think!
I’m also making daily steps with my blogs and my knowledge surrounding them. As I have found, there is a lot more to blogging than publishing a post and hoping for the best. There is SEO, blog maintenance, social media, marketing, email and so much more. Other than a personal facebook and an instagram account I’ve never really used social media all that much, so I’m having to learn something new every day.
One minute I am attempting to create some Pinterest suitable images, the next I am figuring out how to write an effective tweet. Who knew there was so much pressure on 140 characters?! It’s definitely a work in progress, but I’m learning more and progressing a little further each day, one step at a time.
So there it is, my word of the week and a brief summary of the past seven days.
